NOW THAT'S A NICE PACKAGE
OVERVIEW
Makk reinterprets Mexico’s traditional market stalls, selling a product in bulk with a wide range of nuts, seeds, grains, and cereals: from pumpkin seeds to different varieties of quinoa, dried nuts as snacks or nutritious cereal bars. Makk caters towards a more health-conscious lifestyle audience, it targets to individuals looking for an easy way to save time and money, providing quick raw snacks at a very affordable cost. With a large selection of products, Makk has adopted a smart and flexible identity that adapts to the business’s needs.
STRATEGY
Makk’s need of a cost-effective packaging solution is the core of its branding identity. A smart approach where the user could experience and receive a full branded product, while packaged at the spot at the same time. The design takes on typical market aesthetics, resulting from a direct relationship between customer and vendor. The design seeks to be practicaBLE throughout the pieces, using materials that can be easily customized and labeled. Natural, almost rustic materials communicate the brand’s core values in a very direct manner, emphasizing its simplicity and trade’s casual nature.
SOLUTION
The design was crafted with a contemporary approach, through a bold and modern graphic language. All design uses packaging made from recycled materials - all customisable - emphasizing the product’s name, weight, and price following the habitual market shopping experience. The use of a distressed typography and iconography have enhanced Makk’s organic intention. Using seed shapes and geometric shapes and paying particular attention to detail, Makk accomplished a seamless look that allows its cost-effective packaging tools: such as masking tape, labels, wrapping paper, bags, and sacks, to be cohesive and to communicate effectively. The acorn is in itself the very core of Makk’s branding, the simplicity of a nut in its very basic context. A raw solution that connotes the shop’s functional, human and traditional essence.
